Going through life without a vision is a risk that you don’t want to take. All successful things require thought and planning. Having success in your life goals improves your self-worth and self-esteem and gives you a better chance at enjoying good mental health. This article will show you how to make a vision board.
What is a vision board?
This is a board where you lay out the vision for your life as the name suggests. More like a road map. You can project the board for a month, a quarter or the whole year. I suggest you make a vision board for the whole year. More like a projection of the major events that you’re anticipating or hope for that year.
I know that COVID-19 makes positivity a little hard to come by. But your life has to continue. You cannot just sit doing nothing with your life because of the devastating effects of the pandemic that are raging all around us. Self-isolated or not, your life has to proceed.
You need to hold on to something solid for you to see the brighter side of your situation right now. That solid something is called HOPE. The belief that everything is going to be alright someday. Without hope, this life will take you down.
The vision board works with hope and faith. Because you write your plans even when you have no guarantee that they will play out. But you work with faith and optimism. These two are the major ingredients for your success.
7 reasons why you should make a vision board
Of what importance is the vision board anyway? It is what it means to be positive minded. You have no guarantee that the world may quit this “new normal” craziness. So you go ahead and plan your life anyway. And here are 7 good reasons why you should do so;
A vision board;
- Gives you a clear view of your life as you would want it to be.
- Acts as a daily reminder of your dreams and goals.
- Prompts you to work hard in order to achieve your written goals.
- Keeps you motivated and driven.
- Helps you think about what you really want for your life.
- Keeps you focused.
- Helps you stay positive.
Having listed these awesome reasons, there’s no excuse for you to keep sitting on your potential for success and fulfilment of life.
Making your vision board
How your vision board should look is entirely up to you. No one should tell you how it must look like because it is you that will look upon it every single day. Therefore, it must be something you like. Something that appeals to your senses and motivates you. It should be a style that defines you.
However, the goals on your vision board must be Systematic, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound. You can lay out your vision on an A4 white paper. Or you can have some fun planning your life by making or buying an actual board. You can add detail to it by cutting out images depicting your goals from a magazine or newspaper. If you are into digital designs, try creating your board with Canva and print it out. If you are a straight forward or busy person with no time to spare, just write down your goals on paper and stick them on your wall.
Illustrative vision board
You can add some inspirational quotes or bible verses. When I made my vision board, I added the line ‘In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth’ right at the bottom. This is so because this is where my hope lies. Where does yours lie?
Nothing should keep you from making a vision board. Avoid procrastination, just do it now. Remember that it must not only be tailored to physical or material gain. You can also make one for your relationships or personal development goals.
If you get to make one, I’m hoping to see you back here testifying how powerful a vision board is. Because this is what it means to be positive-minded over the course of your life. And if you believe it will work, it definitely will.
